Eastview (25-20, 25-21, 25-19) Brief Commentary per Match:In an struggle to out nerve the Lightning in both teams’ first match of the year, the Sabers played pretty efficient wittiness with a team hitting wade percentage of .252, as well as 7 aces to just 4 errors. Although we would have liked our serve receive to be increasingly in-system (to meet one of our goals), our hitters did a unconfined job getting the wittiness to hit the floor. Defensively, we liked the way we moved our feet to Eastview’s attacks, and kept the ball off the floor on our side. We struggled on the woodcut on the evening with far too many net violations. This will definitely be an zone to work on surpassing our next match. Individual Player Highlights:Junior outside hitter, Carlee Hoppe, had a strong spherical night. You can see the drastic resurgence and conviction level increase since last season. Senior Libero and defensive captain, Alex Berger led the team in digs. Maggie Holcombe did a unconfined job running the offense in her first match as a varsity setter. She made really good choices, played unconfined defense, and appeared to have little trouble adjusting to the varsity level. Stat Leaders Per Match:See unelevated since this is our only game so far. Maggie managed to shake-off the first night jitters and lead the offense with 36 set assists. Her liaison to her hitters kept the team in sync. She widow 1 ace and 5 digs on the night.
